I have always been extremely impressed with the way Cellairis has grown and has continuously innovated to create products that fit their user needs. I am glad we were able to work so closely with the team at Cellairis and drive true value and innovation in terms of products that not only were unique and differentiated but drove a ton of value in terms of market fit and cost savings.

My challenge with this project was that we were trying to create a new category of products that had very custom requirements and some that we were unable to comprehend from a user perspective. This coupled with the complexity of multiple devices that had to fit on one single mount, to reduce repeat tasks and ergonomic fatigue along with carefully looking at a cost effective manufacture able design.

The challenge
Why it’s so difficult
At least 5 interactions happen each time a delivery exec stops to deliver a package.
How can we think of reducing the user-product interactions to bring down repetitive tasks and ergonomic difficulties?
The number of tablets and devices used ranged from iPads to Samsung S380. They were smaller-sized mini tabs, light or rugged that had to be mapped to create uniformity.
Takes off tablet 20-25 times a day, opens and shuts door with tablet and package in hand.
How can we help the user and mount the tablet on the stand without fiddling with multiple locks and levers?
There were multiple levers and adjustments to be made every time a tablet had to be removed from the mount for signature increasing the number of interactions. This meant the device had to be easy to use.
Docking is bad when it's on a bad road, wires tangle and prevent easy delivery.
How do we ensure a secure fit of the stand to the dashboard and tablet to the stand?
Most mounts were using generic suction cups that made them easily detach or fall during delivery or due to the heavy-duty cases and protection. Charging was another issue with wires.
In today’s ever-changing market, electronics need a design upgrade. The idea is to build thoughtful products but make it unique when you think the idea already exists in the world. For an entrepreneur visualising and trying to bring to life a never-ending set of ideas, scaling that simple idea to a mass-produced product might be the start of the journey. But, standing out in an already stagnated market means taking product development to the next level, incorporating capable design and product development experts to listen to one’s idea. Also, to use their extensive experience creating award-winning and high sales generating products in the real world. Everything building up to this - designing electronics that work with us, not against us.
